This collection contains research materials, clippings, and photographs collected by Sarah N. Pinckney on cemeteries mainly in Chatham County, Georgia, but also in the nearby counties of Bryan, Effingham, and Glynn. Also included are genealogy files with correspondence, clippings, notes, and photographs on the following families: Anderson-Kempton, Askew, Baldwin-Holbrook-Wheeler, Behn-Tillinghast, Bellinger, Benge, Bermuchand, Boston, Bourquin, Brewton, Brown-Williams, Bull, Butler, Byington, Cotesworth, Davant, Davis, dela Pointe, Disney, Fenden-Loyer, Fenwick, Fielder, Ford, Gnann, Grant, Haltiwanger, Harper, Harper-Penton-Wall-Sipple, Harris-Cassell, Jackson, Jaudon, Judd, Jurdine, Jurdine-Baker-Thorpe, Keiffer, Krebs, Landree, Langford, Moore, Morgan, Nichols, Nungezer, Ozburn, Penton, Pinckney-Roger, Pittman, Plummer, Porcher, Porter, Pressnell, Reeves, Salfner, Salzburgers, Sanders, Staton, Thorpe, Waight, Whitfield, and Wooster. Majority of her research on cemeteries was compiled for volunteer research projects she was involved in throughout Chatham County. The data that Pinckney collected from the cemeteries was often cross checked with available cemetery and genealogical records in order to provide a reliable resource to future researchers. Also included are her lists on Spanish American War Veterans in Bonaventure cemetery, lists of Chatham County ministers in 1748 to 1877, her compilation of records of Catholic Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia, and various maps and aerial views of the area. For preservation purposes, several binders were disassembled and the contents removed to folders.
